Egg or stone....or neither
I decided to raid the fruit bowl rather than the egg carton and in a nod to the master, Mr Weston, I impulsively threw a pepper into the mix as well.
Langford's Basic Photography includes an effective comparison of the differences caused by changes in direction of light (figure 7.4 pg 208) which I used as a basis to undertake this exercise.
For all the images I keep the same focal length and viewpoint. The only changes were in respect of the light source and exposure times, which were modified such that an ISO of 100 was achieved.
I used two different desk lamps. One with a direct light, the other covered in opaque glass. I also experimented covering the lamps with thick coloured plastic. Finally I experimented with different forms of natural light, uncovering the two windows in the room (one behind the fruit and one in front of the fruit) and opening the two doors in the room (one either side of the fruit) in different sequences.
