What do I see?
Foreground
Daisy covered grass, a sole dandelion (my mind races off on a tangent, a dusting off a buried memory of some childhood friends calling these "piss in the beds"). The metal cap from a corona bottle, I assume the former partner of the near empty bottle placed under the bench upon which I rest. Ants scuttling across the concrete in undecipherable methodical madness. The weather beaten commemorative plaque. The unsymmetrical roof, three sides pitched, the back flat, the aesthetics from this view point not deemed worthy.
Middle ground
People walking on the wet sand, carrying shoes in hand. A dog bounding in the surf. The sunlight glinting off the soft ripples of waves. The bright green pungent seaweed, staking its claim for quick future multiplication under the summer sun. Sea birds gently bobbing on the sea. Paddle boarders mastering the calm waters.
Far ground
Yellow sands. Cars travelling along the coast road highlighted in the sunshine, their quick movements and size make them appear like metal ants. Four looming tower blocks dominating the skyline. Not wilting violets these. Long armed construction cranes heralding the birth of more buildings.
The bright flash of the orange clothing of the all important lighthouse, warning mariners away from these rocky shores.
Horizon
A Martello tower, a steadfast reminder from the past.
Sky
A soft baby blue early Sunday morning sky, cotton wool clouds starting to drift in.
